Public Health Programs Face Closure
Health Press Conference
Recently, CitizenNewscaster.com attended a press conference held jointly by the Pajaro Valley Health Alliance (PVHA), Dientes, and Salud Para La Gente. During the conference, we heard presentations by Kathleen King, CEO of PVHA, Doctor Alana Thompson of Dientes, and Doctor Dennis Baluyut of Salud Para La Gente who each gave facts and statistics regarding the consequences to public health care of the Governor’s budget proposal for 2009. Equally significant was the testimony of a number of patients speakers who at one time or another had received publicly funded health care and without which they would have suffered from lack of health care services. One of the most poignant moments of the conference, however, included an open discussion by physicians and public officials regarding moral issues related to publicly funded health care.
