Nature Inspired Artists and Their Art
CitizenNewscaster attended an art opening at Assemblymember Bill Monning’s Monterey office which featured the art of David Gubernick and Leigh Fitz. Both artists are nature photographers, but each brings a unique perspective to Monterey County and California State Parklands.
David Gubernick began as a scientist, but he was so inspired by photographing our county's and our state’s parklands that he changed his career to that of a full time artist. Gubernick indicates that photography allows him to be “…much more in [his] heart when [he] is out there photographing and connecting with life.” In this video, Gubernick reveals that his passion began with Macro photography of flowers, and he sheds light on the pros and cons of film versus digital photography
Leigh Fitz, who is featured prominently in the exhibition, enjoys exploring Monterey County Parklands so much, that she is inspired to share the experience with others through her photography. Through her art, she hopes to convey her thrill at seeing a scenic vista for the first time or capturing the temperament of nature as it lends a new look to a familiar scene.
