experience leading the Assembly Public Safety Committee and asking all the right questions.”

Speaker Pérez also noted that Chairman Ammiano has won praise from both parties for his handling of the committee, particularly for his leadership in passing Chelsea’s Law earlier this year.  “It’s a difficult job, but Tom’s talent and temperament make him my top choice for the job,” Pérez said.

“Chairing the Public Safety Committee has been a great challenge, but a rewarding one that I am excited about continuing,” Ammiano said. “I’m looking forward to helping ensure safe communities in my district and around the state in a way that fits in with all the values and priorities of the people of California.”

Speaker Pérez also thanked Ammiano for agreeing to also serve as Chair of the Select Committee on Workforce Development within the Developmentally Disabled Community.  “We need to get Californians working again and get our economy back on track,” Pérez said. “I’m grateful to Assemblymember Ammiano for helping ensure that all Californians will have opportunity as our economy recovers.”
